This tutorial will guide you through performing a complete identity verification, from creating an applicant to reviewing results and taking action.

- Test document (your own ID) or applicant willing to verify
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Navigate to Verifications
- Log in to your VeriPlus dashboard
- Click "New Verification" in the Quick Actions section
- You'll see the verification workflow modal
Step 2: Select or Create Applicant
You have two options:
Option A: Create New Applicant (Recommended for First Time)
- Click "Create new applicant"
- Fill in the applicant information:
Type: Individual First Name: John Last Name: Doe Date of Birth: 1990-01-15 Email: [email protected] (optional but recommended) - Click "Save & Continue"
Option B: Select Existing Applicant
- Click "Select existing applicant"
- Search for the applicant by name or email
- Click "Select" next to their name
Step 3: Choose Verification Type
Select the type of verification to perform:
Document Verification
Upload government-issued ID with photo. Most common verification type.
Non-Document Verification
Verify identity using database checks without documents.
For this tutorial, select "Document Verification" - it's the most comprehensive option.
Step 4: Select Verification Workflow
Choose a verification profile (workflow template):

Step 5: Initiate the Verification
You have two options for collecting documents:
Option A: Send Link to Applicant (Recommended)

Click "Send Verification Link"

Choose delivery method:
- Email: Sent to the applicant's email address
- SMS: Sent to their phone number (if provided)
- Copy Link: Share manually via your own channel

The applicant receives a secure link to upload documents

They complete the verification on their mobile or desktop

You receive a notification when complete
Best Practice
Sending links to applicants provides the best user experience and highest quality submissions. Applicants can use their phone camera for optimal document capture.
Option B: Upload Documents Manually

Click "Upload Documents Manually"

Upload the following:
- Front of Document: Clear photo of ID front
- Back of Document: Clear photo of ID back (if applicable)
- Selfie: Photo of the applicant's face

Ensure images are:
- Well-lit with no glare
- In focus and not blurred
- Entire document visible within frame
- Minimum 600x800 pixels resolution
Step 6: Monitor Verification Progress
Once submitted, the verification enters processing:
- Processing (5-30 seconds): AI analyses documents
- Extracting Data: Reading information from documents
- Performing Checks: Document authenticity, face match, liveness
- Calculating Risk Score: Overall confidence assessment
You can monitor progress on the verification detail page.
Step 7: Review Results
When complete, the verification status will update to one of:
- ✅ Approved: All checks passed successfully
- ⚠️ Manual Review: Some checks need human attention
- ❌ Rejected: Critical checks failed
Understanding the Results
Document Validity
- ✅ Document is authentic and not tampered
- ⚠️ Some authenticity markers unclear
- ❌ Document appears fake or altered

Face Match
- ✅ Selfie matches document photo (95%+ confidence)
- ⚠️ Partial match (70-94% confidence)
- ❌ No match or poor image quality
Liveness Detection (Enhanced workflow only)
- ✅ Real person detected
- ❌ Photo of photo or video detected
Risk Score
The overall risk score ranges from 0-100:
- 90-100: Very Low Risk (auto-approve recommended)
- 70-89: Low Risk (review recommended)
- 50-69: Medium Risk (manual review required)
- 0-49: High Risk (reject or re-verify)
Step 8: Take Action
Based on the results, take appropriate action:
If Status is "Approved" (Risk Score 90+)
- Click "Internal Approve" button
- Confirm the approval
- Applicant status changes to "Verified"
- Optionally export PDF report for records
If Status is "Manual Review" (Risk Score 70-89)
- Review each check result carefully
- Compare extracted data with your records
- Look for any data mismatches or warnings
- Decide to:
- Approve: If checks are acceptable
- Reject: If concerns are significant
- Request Re-verification: Ask for better documents
If Status is "Rejected" (Risk Score < 70)

Review the failure reasons

Step 9: View Data Extraction
The Enhanced Checks tab shows all extracted data:
- Personal Information
- Document Details
- Validity Dates
- Address Information (if on document)
- Document Security Features Detected
You can edit extracted data if OCR made errors.
Step 10: Export Compliance Report (Optional)
For audit trails and record-keeping:

Data Mismatch Alerts
VeriPlus automatically detects discrepancies between:
- Data you entered vs. document data
- Document data vs. database records
Verification Alerts
If you see alert badges on the verification page, review them carefully. Common alerts include:
- Name Mismatch: Entered name doesn't match document
- DOB Mismatch: Date of birth discrepancy
- Address Mismatch: Different addresses
- Expired Document: Document past expiry date
These don't automatically fail verification but require your review.
Verification Lifecycle
Verifications have the following states:
Created → Processing → Completed → Approved/Rejected

Manual Review → Approved/Rejected
- Created: Verification initiated but documents not yet submitted
- Processing: AI analysing documents
- Completed: Results ready for review
- Manual Review: Requires human decision
- Approved: Passed all checks
- Rejected: Failed critical checks
Common Issues and Solutions
Issue: Document Upload Fails
Symptoms: Error message when uploading documents
Solutions:
- Check file size (max 10MB per image)
- Use supported formats: JPG, PNG, PDF
- Ensure stable internet connection
- Try different browser if issue persists
Issue: Face Match Fails
Symptoms: Selfie doesn't match document photo
Causes:
- Poor lighting in selfie
- Wearing sunglasses, hat, or mask
- Using old photo instead of live selfie
- Document photo is very old
Solutions:
- Retake selfie with good lighting
- Remove accessories
- Ensure live photo (not old photo)
- Use Enhanced workflow with liveness detection
Issue: Document Deemed Invalid
Symptoms: Document fails authenticity checks
Causes:
- Blurry or low-quality image
- Glare obscuring security features
- Cropped or partial document
- Expired document
Solutions:
- Retake with better quality
- Avoid flash/glare
- Capture entire document
- Use valid, unexpired document
Best Practices
- Always use verification links when possible - Better UX and image quality
- Enable email notifications - Get alerted when verifications complete
- Review data mismatches - Don't auto-approve if alerts present
- Keep audit trail - Export PDFs for high-risk applicants
